Important Announcement – Increase in shipment prices for Far East and Middle East.

Due to the recent situation in the Red Sea, transit via the Suez Canal has been temporarily suspended. As a result, vessels are currently being rerouted via the Cape of Good Hope. This change in route has led to increased shipping costs and extended shipping times.

In response, shipping companies have implemented the surcharge Contingency Adjustment Charge (CAC) indefinitely. Starting from January 1st, 2024, a Contingency Adjustment Charge will be applied to exports from European ports destined for the Far East and Middle East.

In our dedication to delivering the finest peat moss products, we depend on the shipping lines for our shipments. We are closely monitoring the situation and will notify you once the surcharge is cancelled. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us sales@hortimedpeat.com

The following frequently asked questions (FAQs) aim to provide more information to answer your questions:

1. What will happen to my cargo if it is included in the service that was originally planned to be transited through the Suez Canal?
Answer: All ships operated by shipping lines have either been diverted from the route or suspended from shipping to the Red Sea. For those whose routes have been diverted through the Cape of Good Hope, cargo delivery is expected to be delayed.

2. How could I know the latest ship’s schedule and my cargo delivery time?
Answer: You are always welcome to contact our logistics department for the latest information about your shipment. You can also get up-to-date cargo information through cargo tracking and the ship’s schedule during ship tracking.

3. Is there a timetable for ships to sail again through the Suez Canal?
Answer: It depends on whether the safety of the crew, cargo and ship can be ensured.

4. How do I know if my shipment will be routed through the Cape of Good Hope or not?
Answer: We continue to update the information to provide our customers with the latest information. For the latest ship schedule, please always see ship tracking online.

5. I have booked shipments for the Red Sea region, what will happen to my shipment?
Answer: In the current situation, it is expected that your cargo delivery will be slightly delayed as shipments may be unloaded to a nearby safe port until recovery of the situation.

6. Will my shipments incur additional costs due to the service interruption?
Answer: In partnership with shipping lines, we will continue to provide information to customers on future alternative ways of shipping. The current situation shows that shipping lines are demanding a premium Contingency Adjustment Charge (CAC), which applies to all shipments from Europe to the Far and Middle East starting from January 1.
